Dear Sister,
I’m sorry I forgot your name, we met at the Women’s Leadership Conference in Italy in November 2012.
Today as I watched the video of Sister Cristina, Italy’s new singing nun I thought of you. You certainly look like Sister Cristina to me.
Then I remembered the time I was living in Adelaide and visited the place where Sister Janet Mead lived.

I was in Adelaide 1977 and often attended the rock mass at the Adelaide Cathedral. I really loved her song, not only the Our Father but others. I think I even bought an album, which was an LP playing record at that time.
I was surprised to learn that some nuns (Sister Janet) live outside convents and have a more lay or worldly vocation. She shared a flat with a couple other young people and I joined them for an unconventional breakfast.
I was also surprised to learn that hardly anyone I spoke to had ever heard of Sister Janet. So I was very happy to discover a number of links on the internet and even some recordings on YouTube.
Happy to say that Sister Janet Mead was the second most famous singing nun after the 1963 film, the Singing Nun – Dominique. Now comes Sister Cristina. May we all be blessed.
