Ozlilly's musings...

While in Queensland we went to Kuranda with the intention to go on the Skyrail cablecar across the top of the tropical north Queensland rainforest.

However, because it was so foggy, cloudy and rainy, we visited the Butterfly House and Koala Sanctuary (check the correct names of all these places – I think I brought back leaflets). Now I have edited the videos and am still fascinated by the fact that butterflies, no, caterpillars, pupate and turn completely into liquid before reassembling themselves into butterflies.

Video here:

The butterfly house in Kuranda is very successful at breeding butterflies. We took photos of some beautiful butterflies matin2016-06-15_13-09-24318g.

I mention in the video that we wanted to have a cup of coffee afterwards but everything was closed. The pub was still open, but they had turned off their coffee machine already. We met a lady in one of the shops from Hopper’s Crossing, Melbourne, not far from where my Mum lives. Hilda and Henry live there and we visited them while in Melbourne. The aborigines were applying their warpaint, or make-up, whatever you like to call it as we walked through the streets. It must have been shortly before the train arrived because for a short time the streets were full of life, didjeridoos, markets, stalls, shops, crowds of people. We had lunch in a fairly full restaurant and did not expect that in a few short hours, after our walk through the koala park and butterfly house, that everything would be closed. We met a young Korean man at a market stall in the front of the butterfly house.
