Ozlilly's musings...

And the trip continues . I was writing the board log, recording all the stops and starts, rivers crossed and cities visited.

This one starts in  Cooktown at the lighthouse and then driving down again. The beach could have been Port Douglas. the Rock Hill should be identifyable.  The roads now are all surfaced, so it would be interesting to see the same route now. I remember picking the ripe mangoes and eating myself full on them. The Hotel may have been the one-man pub.

Then it’s the view from the glass bottom boat at Green Island, looking down to the Great Barrier Reef.

A waterfall, driving through a ford, testing the depth before driving through. Mum feeding a kookaburra. A Far North Queensland country coastal town. Then Gladstone and the aluminium factory, the Alumina plant. I’m wearing a number of things I sewed for myself, the aqua short jumpsuit. Banana plantations, Noosa Heads I guess, my comment heard as we copy the 8mm film to video (mov) format with Josef’s camera. Then Sea World, Wonderland, whatever it was called, near Brisbane or Surfers Paradise or Sunshine Coast, with seals and dolphins trained to jump through hoops and throw balls.

Then it was I think the Jenolan Caves in NSW on the way back home inland south. You can tell by the clothes that it is getting cooler again. The European style houses in the Blue Mountains, built by the Europeans who settled there.

The rock wallaby, waterfall.

The Three Sisters in Katoomba, another waterfall and finally the steepest railway in the world coming down at Katoomba. This continues from here on the next film which begins on the railroad down the hill at Katoomba. https://lilly.fam-gundacker.eu/remember-when/safari-3/
