What am I doing to promote peace?
Josef and I committed to each other on July first nineteen-eighty-two. Our motto was “World Peace Through Ideal Families”.

We were in the Madison Square Garden Blessing Ceremony, together with two thousand and seventy-five couples. We spent a couple of weeks together, three to be more precise, and then returned, each to our home country. Actually, we both came to Europe and Austria, and after visiting my grandparents in Munich, and his mission city, Innsbruck, we also visited his family in Waldviertel and the candle factory in Gfoehl. Three weeks later I was on my way back to New York, then Los Angeles and back to Melbourne. He returned to Innsbruck.
In 1985 he returned to America to do CAUSA work, then ICC (Interreligious Conferences for Clergy). In 1986 I came to America and also joined the ICC campaign, inviting religious ministers to Korea. In 1988 we got legally married in Jacksonville, Oregon and shortly afterwards, returned to Europe.
We began our family life with candles and prayer. Today we still light a candle in the morning, read scriptures and say a prayer together, and pray again before going to bed.
We are so different from each other. We spend our days in different rooms of the house. We are both “busy people”, concerned responsible citizens. I am glad when he cooks for me. I have the idea that I am the “more busy one” because I work full-time. A relic from the initial role-change we did when our youngest son was two years old. He is now 21.
I’m looking forward to our move to Vienna. We will both gain a couple hours a day, not having to commute to the city. We really enjoy the country life, but now it’s time for a change. Our meals on the weekends are always long philosophical discussions. We are saving the world. We are building families of peace and love. Our discussions after our readings are also passionate and exciting. Peace start with me. How? When I make peace with my husband. When I am grateful for all I have. When I invest my resources of time, money and effort for peaceful purposes. When I live for the sake of others. Stay tuned.
