Wild garlic and lily of the valley together
Beware when collecting wild garlic

Spring has finally come to Austria and the harvest time for wild garlic is almost finished. It is already approaching the dangerous period of the fatally similar flower called Maiglöckchen, which I have just discovered is the lily of the valley. Now I knew lilies were poisonous because my mother had some in her front garden which were very pretty and she warned me not to even touch them. But have a look at what’s growing up in our garden at home in Kirchberg and it looks like we actually have them growing parallel!

On the other hand, at Altenworth on the Danube, there are still fields of wild garlic.
