WiN Global- Women in Nuclear- and IAEA- International Atomic Energy Agency- together with Professional Women’s Peace Network (PWN) held an event at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna on Monday evening 12 June 2017.
Speakers were Mary Alice Hayward Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Management of the IAEA, Robert Baker Senior Partner & Global Client Director at Mercer, based in London, Dr Renee Gadsden, curator, author and educator at University of Applied Arts Vienna.

The meeting was an exciting opportunity of sharing, listening, inspiring and mentoring.

I arrived early and admired the beautiful park style gardens. There were students playing table tennis behind some bushes and trees amongst the green. I came here often in years gone by. I had to think of Professor Thomas Schoenfeld who proudly introduced me to Otmar Holl on one occasion when we were both regular attendees. I think I had never been here on a beautiful summer evening as this. It was warm, it was light. It was lovely. I sat myself down at some tables and chairs near the entrance, despite the flurry I noticed going on inside as Gabi Voigt and other organizers prepared the room. I made myself wait until the actual official registration time at six thirty. Then I quickly took a photo at the entrance door with the garden in the background, before going in. Once inside, I took a seat and began to prepare my mobile phone for taking photos. Soon Robert Baker approached me and asked whether I would be taking photos. I affirmed. Then he told me that there would be a prize for the one who tweets the most during the meeting. I affirmed that I did indeed have a Twitter account, but I do not tweet. I quickly downloaded the App onto my mobile phone and tried to figure out how it works, how to tweet, how to log on, how to send a photo. I went to my gallery and shared the garden shot. Then I asked about the hashtag. I was not aware of the different settings for topics and recipients. You use the @ for addressees and the # to get to a topic feed. I am fully auto-didactic and must say that this week has been an incredible learning curve for me. Today I was at another meeting which may have also been great to tweet from. But now I have finally joined my little video clips and here is what I have from Monday night’s meeting. Enjoy.
